NRS Announces Weekend Tax Services Ahead of Peak Filing Season

By Israel Ojoko

The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has announced the introduction of weekend tax services across the country to assist taxpayers during the peak filing season. The initiative is aimed at improving tax compliance and supporting businesses and individuals using the newly launched Rev360 Phase I Tax Administration System.

According to the agency, all Emerging, Medium, Large, and Government Business Offices will now operate on Saturdays from May 8 to June 27, 2026, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The extended service hours are expected to provide taxpayers with additional time to resolve tax-related issues, submit filings, and receive guidance on the new digital platform.

The NRS explained that the decision became necessary due to the expected increase in tax filing activities during the Companies Income Tax filing season. The agency noted that many taxpayers may require technical assistance and clarification while adapting to the Rev360 system.

The newly introduced Rev360 Phase I platform was officially launched on April 30, 2026, as part of the NRS “Tax Administration 3.0” initiative. The system is designed to modernize tax administration processes, improve transparency, and create a more efficient and user-friendly experience for taxpayers.

The revenue agency stated that the weekend operations demonstrate its commitment to service delivery, innovation, and voluntary tax compliance. Officials believe the additional support services will reduce delays and improve the overall efficiency of the tax filing process nationwide.

The move also comes as the NRS intensifies efforts to increase non-oil revenue generation and meet its ambitious revenue target for 2026. The agency has projected a tax revenue target of N40.7 trillion for the year, reflecting the government’s renewed focus on strengthening the country’s tax administration system and expanding the tax base.
