This initiative is part of a broader strategy focusing on capacity building, technological advancement, and infrastructure enhancement to transform FIRS into a globally recognized, efficient, and trusted revenue authority.

Key Aspects of FIRS’s Strategic Recruitment Drive

1. Targeting 80% In-House Workforce

FIRS is emphasizing the recruitment of in-house professionals to reduce reliance on external consultants and enhance internal capacity. The goal is to have 80% of its workforce composed of permanent staff, ensuring greater control over operations and fostering a more cohesive organizational culture.

2. Recruitment for Experienced Professionals

The agency is seeking experienced professionals for various specialized roles, including:

  1. Assistant Manager and Deputy Manager positions in tax investigation, public relations, research, risk management, legal, and ICT (cybersecurity and AI management).
  2. Senior Manager and Assistant Director roles in tax audit.

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a second-class lower division or lower credit. Additionally, candidates should have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program no later than December 31, 2017. Age limits are set at 40 years for Assistant Manager and Deputy Manager roles, and 45 years for Senior Manager and Assistant Director positions, as of December 31, 2024.

3. Application Process

Interested candidates are encouraged to apply through the official FIRS career portal at careers.firs.gov.ng or via the agency’s verified social media platforms. The application portal opened on December 23, 2024, and the deadline for submissions was January 11, 2025.

Strategic Roadmap for 2025

To achieve the N25.2 trillion revenue target, FIRS has outlined a strategic roadmap centered on three key pillars:

  1. Capacity Building and Training: Empowering the workforce with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in modern tax administration.
  2. Infrastructure and Facility Enhancement: Investing in modernizing workspaces to foster an environment conducive to excellence and productivity.
  3. Technological Advancement: Leveraging technology to enhance operations, block leakages, and improve the taxpayer experience.

These initiatives are designed to consolidate internal processes, drive revenue generation, and position FIRS as a model revenue authority globally.
